Since moving to Saturday nights (Sunday mornings) on Adult Swim in 2012, Toonami now airs on every day that Daylight Saving Time either begins or ends.
During the initial “Ending” of Daylight Saving Time broadcast on November 12, 2012, Toonami started the tradition of filling the extra hour with special programming that was not usually on the block, like Inuyasha, King Star King or Children Who Chase Lost Voices. However, in 2018, Toonami did not fill the extra hour with special programming. It was instead able to air the regular schedule from 9:00 PM-3:00 AM, rather than the usual 9:00 PM-4:00 AM.
During every "Beginning" of Daylight Saving Time broadcast between 2012-2014, Toonami is shortened by an hour causing the 2:00 AM - 3:00 AM hour to be skipped. However, since 2015, the full block has still aired in its entirety.
How Daylight Saving Time Works[]
When Daylight Saving Time begins (in Spring), the clocks jump forward an hour from 2:00 AM to 3:00 AM, leaving that day with only 23 hours. When Daylight Saving Time ends (in Fall), the clocks jump back an hour from 2:00 AM to 1:00 AM, repeating the 1:00 AM - 2:00 AM hour, giving that day an extra hour (25 hours).
