Lupin the Third: The Italian Adventure, also known as Lupin the Third: Part IV, is the fifth incarnation of TMS Entertainment's long-running anime television adaptation of the Lupin III manga series written by Monkey Punch. The series was produced by Telecom Animation Film, with franchise veteran Kazuhide Tomonaga serving as chief director and Yoichiro Yane directing with scripts by Yūya Takahashi. Yuji Ohno also returned as series composer.[3]
The English dub of the series premiered on Adult Swim's Toonami block from June 17, 2017[1] to January 20, 2018. The series returned to Toonami for a second run from June 2, 2018 to December 8, 2018.[2] The series is rated TV-PG-LSV and TV-14-DLSV on Adult Swim.
Plot[]
The new story takes place in Italy and San Marino, and features a blue-jacketed Lupin in his 20’s. Lupin the 3rd follows the escapades and adventures of master thief Arsene Lupin III, a brilliant thief who has been able to carry off heists no one ever thought possible. Although he has been arrested and jailed on multiple occasions, he has always managed to escape.

The series ran for 26 episodes in Italy and 24 episodes in Japan. In the United States, the broadcast of the series on Adult Swim included all 26 episodes. The series was released on DVD and Blu-Ray by VAP in Japan between December 23, 2015 and July 20, 2016. The series has been licensed by Anime Limited for the UK market and by Discotek Media for the North American market.[5]
Broadcast History[]
The series was announced at Mipcom in Cannes, France in October 2014 to be broadcast in Spring 2015 in Italy, but was delayed to August. The series premiered in Italy on August 30, 2015 on the Italia 1 and Italia 1 HD channels,[6] after a preview screening at Concordia theater in San Marino on August 29, 2015. Subsequently, the series made its Japanese premiere from October 1, 2015 to March 17, 2016 on Nippon TV and the series was also made available on the J:Com and Hulu streaming services on October 21st.[7][8] The English dub first aired in the United States on Adult Swim's Toonami block from June 17, 2017[1] to January 20, 2018. It returned to the block for a second run from June 2, 2018[2] to December 8, 2018.

Toonami Broadcast History[]
The English dub of the series premiered on Adult Swim's Toonami block on June 17, 2017 at 2:00 AM.[1] It was later moved to the 1:30 AM time slot, where it completed its run on January 20, 2018. Reruns of the series returned to Toonami for a second run on June 2, 2018 at 3:30 AM.[2] On August 11, 2018, the series moved from the 3:30 AM time slot to the 3:00 AM time slot. The series completed its second run on Toonami on December 8, 2018, after which, it was replaced in the lineup by reruns of Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans.
