Toonami Jetstream was a free ad-supported online broadband service created by Cartoon Network and Viz Media. It hosted various Toonami and Viz Media hit animated series and also featured music videos, game reviews, and a comment box.

History[]

Jetstream premiered on Monday, July 17, 2006, with a special preview occurring on Friday, July 14, 2006. Initially, new episodes were made available on Jetstream every Monday before noon & would stay available for 4-6 weeks.

Although Toonami was cancelled on September 20, 2008, Toonami Jetstream remained active through January 30, 2009, and was then suddenly shut down. As a result, Naruto and Pokémon moved to Cartoon Network's streaming service Cartoon Network Video, while other anime series like Zatch Bell!, Hikaru no Go, and One Piece were unavailable for Cartoon Network to continue to stream.

A farewell message on Toonami Jetstream read as follows:
"We greatly appreciate all the fan support for Toonami Jetstream over the past years. Starting January 30, Naruto will make its new home on CN Video at CartoonNetwork.com. Fans of MAR, Blue Dragon, and other popular Viz Media series previously featured on Toonami Jetstream should check www.viz.com for future updates."

Availability of Each Series[]

Toonami Jetstream had six series that originally could not be found anywhere else in their dubbed format. These series were Hikaru no Go, The Prince of Tennis, Eyeshield 21, MÄR, MegaMan StarForce, and Kiba. However, due to the online popularity of The Prince of Tennis and MAR, reruns of the two series were added to the Toonami lineup on December 23, 2006, while Toonami Jetstream continued to show the world premiere English-language episodes (save for one MÄR episode that premiered on Toonami) until June 2007 when The Prince of Tennis and MÄR were removed from the Toonami schedule. MegaMan Star Force also eventually made its way on to the Toonami block as an edited TV movie on August 25, 2007, but never appeared on the block again.

All but 3 episodes of Hikaru no Go were hosted on Jetstream, while Kiba had all but 12 episodes hosted on Jetstream. Pokémon also had episodes hosted on Jetstream starting with the "Orange League" episode "The Pokémon Water War". Jetstream also hosted "Johto League Champions" episodes, "Master Quest" episodes, "Battle Frontier" episodes and "Original Series" episodes. Zatch Bell! originally aired on Toonami for 77 episodes, however, it seemingly vanished from television after episode 77. Later, the series was added to Toonami Jetstream, and premiered most of what remained of the unfinished English language dub. Toonami Jetstream also hosted reruns of Blue Dragon, until world premiere English language episodes were hosted in 2009. All but 10 episodes of the series were ultimately hosted on Jetstream.

RSS feed[]

Toonami Jetstream was offering two ways to check for updates. The first, an RSS feed on the Jetstream website. Alternatively, a downloadable program called the "Toonami Jetstream Desktop Receiver" collected and displayed updates automatically, allowing easy access to new additions. After Toonami Jetstream went defunct, Cartoon Network Video made a desktop receiver of its own.

Promotions with the Toonami Block[]

The Toonami website began advertising the service on July 3, 2006. The first television promo was during Cartoon Planet on July 9, 2006. The first promo on Toonami was on July 15, 2006, during a special Naruto Marathon titled "Night of Naruto".
